Final Portfolio
The final portfolio in English 114A constitutes an end of semester assessment that is in accord with the process orientation of the Composition program. Because the program privileges revised writing, the portfolio provides students with an opportunity to revise previously written work, thereby demonstrating the insights and abilities they have learned in their writing courses.

The goal of this assignment is to give you the chance to reflect on your progress as a writer and student this semester and to discuss how the materials in the portfolio demonstrate that progress. The letter may include the following:

Portfolio Requirements
- Final REVISED drafts of TWO essays.
- At least ONE previous draft of both essays.
- The prompt that the essay responds to.
- The Reflection Letter.
- Some sort of professional binding (a folder, a binder, or a plastic cover, etc.).
- Any other additional material you would like your portfolio readers to see.
The Reflection Letter Requirements
The goal of this assignment is to give you the chance to reflect on your progress as a writer and student this semester and to discuss how the materials in the portfolio demonstrate that progress. The letter may include the following:
- How did you develop as a writer over the course of the semester?
- What is the significance of the issues addressed in your essays?
- What revisions did you make to your papers and why?
- Perspective sin the strengths and weaknesses of your essays.
- This letter should read like a cohesive narrative, NOT just a series of unrelated points.
- Ideas should be supported by references to your essays and classwork.
